Bone marrow is a spongy tissue found inside some bones in the body. The bone marrow is the production center of the blood cells (white, red, and platelets). A biopsy of this tissue is used to diagnose or stage certain types of blood cancers or diseases.

When dealing with bone marrow biopsies, our teams' expertise is invaluable; before any procedure begins, our experienced staff will work closely with you and your family physician to ensure the best possible outcome tailored specifically towards your needs. The process generally starts by taking a small sample of cells from the bone marrow located inside several large bones throughout the body through a needle aspiration assisted by ultrasound guidance or sometimes direct visualization if necessary. The results obtained from these samples help us make well informed decisions about treatment plans that would be most beneficial or appropriate for those affected by certain types of cancers since it gives us an accurate idea about what type of disease we are fighting against as well as its stage & intensity level at that time which plays such an integral role when determining future courses of action especially concerning chemotherapy dosages administered.
